Hi all! Our little nook of Lansdowne is looking great! Keep it up.
We do need volunteers to help maintain our flower gardens in a few of our public spaces. The flower gardens on the island, and the triangle area near the entrance to Gladstone Manor on Baltimore Ave to start with. We’d like to have about 10-12 people trained on how to keep it up during the growing months. Dawn our expert in what will grow to be flowers and what are weeds that need to be pulled to keep from strangling the flowers will hold a training session for all who are willing to help. If we do this right it might mean each of us take two hours, spread out over the summer to keep our gardens alive and well. One hour, or half hour at a time, whatever fits into your schedule. You pick the time that fits, so we can help Dawn and our Gladstone Manor keep the lovely gardens alive. Notice will follow within a week for training times.
A “Water Ice Social” July 7th, with a walk around our lovely Gladstone Manor will be held Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm for scooping time. Walk over with your family and pick a flavor, then hang out to say hi to old and new neighbors. Take a look at our gardens, stroll around the blocks enticing new neighbors to sign up and join our GGCA and enjoy the fresh air. We will have a donation jar at the water ice stand to help offset the cost of candy to be used at the parade.
It’s very exciting that Lansdowne IS having their Independence Day parade this year, and even better- Gladstone Manor will be a part of it! The parade is on July 3,rd meet at 8:30am at East Greenwood Ave., Red, White and Blue attire and all are invited to walk in the parade. Parade starts at 9 am. We are currently looking for a Greater Gladstone banner, and will pass out candy to spectators.
